Mound 70 is a housing development located along the outskirts of the growing city of Krakow, Poland. The project began by designing a two-story house with a strict footprint of 70M max. The design is meant for young singles, couples, and families who are looking for starter homes that are eco and budget friendly.
The houses were then taken and given a site. The site itself was lackluster and void of personality. The goal for the site was to design a neighborhood that has a strong sense of community, connections to nature, and breaks the traditional monotony of neighborhoods. Each of these goals were carefully considered in order to create a space that residents would be happy to call home.

Keeping a more minimal layout, Mound 70 aims to be a more flexible space that most traditional homes. It features a large kitchen and dining area, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a spacious interior courtyard that provides natural lighting.

HugelKulture is a traditional German gardening technique that utlizies waste to form large, fertile mounds for growing. Waste from excavation, site clearing, and the household will all be used to create the mounds. Not only do the mounds provide necessary growing space, but also work to integrate the homes back into the landscape.
